Riding Lessons

Ages 14+ • All disciplines WELCOME

Our Teaching Philosophy

At Silver Brook Stables, we believe riding is about far more than learning how to steer a horse. We teach horsemanship.

Our lessons include developing an understanding of horse behavior, communication, safety, groundwork, balance, feel, timing, and partnership—creating riders who are confident, thoughtful, and compassionate. Every rider progresses at a different pace, and our goal is to provide the instruction, encouragement, and support that allows each individual to continue growing.

Finding the Right Fit

Whether your goal is to ride recreationally, improve your horsemanship, gain confidence, or develop advanced riding skills, we’ll help place you in the lesson format that best supports your success.

For many riders, that journey begins with a private lesson and naturally evolves into a group where learning becomes even richer through shared experiences and continued coaching.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Silver Brook Stables community.

Private One-on-One Lessons

“Building Your Foundation”

ABOUT

For most new riders, we recommend beginning with one or two private lessons.

Private instruction allows us to:

• Evaluate your current riding ability and experience.
• Match you with the most appropriate lesson horse.
• Establish safe and correct riding fundamentals.
• Develop a personalized learning plan based on your goals.
• Build confidence before introducing additional riders into the learning environment.

Private lessons provide focused, one-on-one coaching tailored specifically to your needs and create the strongest foundation for long-term success.

Group Lessons

“One of the Best Ways to Learn”

ABOUT

Once your foundation has been established, many riders transition into one of our small group lessons.
While it may seem surprising, riders often make faster progress in a thoughtfully structured group setting.

Why? Because there are tremendous “borrowed benefits” from learning alongside others.

During a group lesson, you have the opportunity to:

• Learn from your own instruction and from the coaching other riders receive.
• Observe different horses, personalities, and learning styles.
• Develop greater awareness by watching others solve similar challenges.
• Build confidence within a supportive, encouraging environment.
• Gain valuable experience riding with others—an important skill both in and out of the arena.

Many riders discover that hearing concepts explained to another student reinforces their own understanding and helps lessons “click” in new ways.
